I entered the shop to have my unused and unworn 25th anniversary watch band shortened, change the battery and fix a stuck stem. Immediately, the proprietor greeted me from the back room with hostility. I explained the problems and what I wanted fixed. He took off the original plastic wrapping, which I agreed to, while he commented on the "Chinese" plastic covering a Swiss-made watch. Avoid like the plague for watch repair! Five watches, three which needed routine cleaning and timing, $1,300 plus return trips and one, ONE, works occasionally! These are high end Walthams, Illinois, Benrus and Bolivias. I get it if you aren't familiar with that watch, say so and pass. When you say that you can service them and have them well regulated, that genuinely means 30 seconds a day on antiques, not 30 MINUTES!
