Jokes about life threatening situations are extremely inappropriate.
Somehow some staff member here thought that it was okay to joke about the unsanitary conditions of the water in Flint, MI. Then when asked about it, claimed that it was a nod to a community with water of poor quality. #NotFlint demonstrates our perceived superiority to the mostly poor people of color living in Flint. For a restaurant built on ethical ideas (vegetarianism/veganism), the calloused remark about Flint's water system shows that your "ethics" must just be a profit-based charade.
Don't know about their food but their sense of humor is tasteless. Maybe don't mock the people of Flint, Michigan in the future...
This establishment and its employees have made light of the ongoing suffering and health crisis faced by a marginalized community as a product of institutionalized racism. That is fundamentally unacceptable and thus so is this establishment.
How is it acceptable to mock the water crisis in Flint, Michigan? That kind of "joke" should not be something deemed appropriate for advertising or any post.
Joking about unsafe/unsanitary drinking water that is ultimately life-threatening to POC is entirely inappropriate--especially from a local business that embraces their "ally-ship"
The smoothies are great. Hashtags that make light of a serious situation? Not worth it. I expected more from your "socially aware" business.
