Tasty fare We love to go as a family to Maharaja, even with small children. The staff is very friendly, especially to our kids. The food is nicely spicy and very flavorful (although milder options are available). The dinner prices are moderate, and the portions provide enough for some lunch leftovers.
They no longer have the $7.95 lunch buffet the only Indian restaurant remaining with this special is the one on park st. The name of the restaurant is Taj Indian and I highly recommend it.
Great lunch value We go here for the lunch buffet. It has an excellent variety with veggie items and meats. The dessert is good too. I like the mango ice cream. They also serve a flat bread with your meal that is delicious. Price is average--about $8 for lunch.
Maharaja has an excellent Indian buffet with lots of options. It's also a great place to go if you haven't really tried Indian food before, as there is a wide variety of choices, and it isn't as spicy as some others, although the food is still just as delicious or better.
I've never even been to Maharaja for dinner -- the buffet is such a good deal & there's such a great selection, it's hard to deviate from that. I'm a vegetarian, & there's always a wide selection of dishes that I can eat. I like Maharaja because the food is not unbearably spicy -- just perfect.
The best I could find in Madison.... – I would recommend going to the weekend buffet to figure out what dishes you might like. They have more out on the weekend than during the week, and you can figure out which dishes you like before going for dinner. My favorite dish (palak paneer) isn't very good here, but they do have a good navratan curry. The biggest downfall here is the atmosphere. It is old and kind of dirty and if you get sat next to the bathrooms you can smell the urinal cakes. Ugh!
