Used the self-serve the other day and was frustrated that there is no way to know ahead of time how much it costs or how long you get. Turns out that it's $3 for 3 minutes*, which goes really quickly, and I had more quarters to add when I ran out of time, but was too slow to put them in. I didn't want to spend another $3 so I just drove home with a half-soapy car and rinsed it with a hose.
