Just want to share my frustrating experience with ants and pest issues. The other reviews mentioning the Argentine ant problem are true. The core issue seems to be that the building is made of wood, and many ants are hidden inside the wooden structure itself. The leasing office usually advises residents to schedule an appointment with their pest vendor, Okrin, who comes to place ant gel or spray the area. Kimberly's tour service was outstanding. Out of the 5 places I toured that day, Kimberly's stood out the most because of her care, attention to detail, and thorough preparation. The map that she gave us was the most helpful of all the maps we received out of the 5 places we toured. We did not end up choosing this apartment due to location but we were very impressed with the tour.
I've been living at Madera Apartments and feel it's important to share a major issue for anyone considering moving here: the extreme noise, especially from nearby trains and traffic. The apartment is located very close to the Caltrain tracks. On weekdays, the last Caltrain runs around 1 AM and the first one starts again at 5 AM, which means there's often only a 3–4 hour window of quiet during the night. Reply to the owner's comment: the owner's comment is a lie, I lived in Madera, they have the record of it. Bad: 1. They haven't refund a deposit of more than $4000 after 3 months. When communicating multiple times with Greig (he is issuing the refund), we were either ignored, or it took many days to hear back, telling us they would check but with no follow-up. 2. The paint and carpet were perfectly fine upon move-out but we were charged ~$250 for it. Luckily we have made a video when moving out.
