Good Food - Not Authentic The food is very good here, and it tries very hard to be an 'authentic' Mexican restaurant but it fails. As a place to eat, it passes and the service is excellent. The salsa is watered down and not spicy at all...and as far as the 'Happies' go, since I don't drink I wouldn't know - I suspect after two or three of them however, the food could be anything and be great ;).

Agreed, it's not true Mexican food, but it doesn't pretend to be - if you read the menu, it states all over that it's not "actual" Mexican food... more Tex Mex type. A local favorite. My friends and I have been going to Mad Mex since it opened here a few years ago. They always have fast and friendly service with a smile. They have some very tasty dishes. I think I have tried them all. The staff always makes you fell welcome and are very accomomadating. This continues to be one of my favorite places to eat for me and my friends. i highly recommend Mad Mex.
Cheap Happies!!! Mad mex has great food. Happy hour has really cheap Margaritas. There islots of good company there with an older crowd, meaning to many students. Great outdoor dining.
Worst experience at Penn State. As a PSU alumni celebrating my brothers graduation with my family, the bouncer was extremely disrespectful. Very disappointing, we will never be visiting again.

Take advantage of student specials with your student ID from 2-4pm Mon-Thurs, half off MOST food! (Ask server what is not included to avoid paying full price) Also great happy hour! 4:30-6:30 M-F they have half off beer, house margaritas, and wings.
