I have to say that my family and I have been going to this resort for over 40 years and I love it to death, but it is in need of some serious renovation. The location is beautiful with a nice small private beach and the lake is extremely clean. The real problem lies with the cabins. Youre looking at 650 on the low end. And when I say low, I mean it. My families cabins have had problems for years that never get fixed (leaky roof, mice, etc.). You expect rustic, but you get borderline dangerous.Whered all the money go? The most ... read more
I thought Macs Landing was great! The price was right especially with kids, try to get a beach front cabin for under \$150 bucks in Traverse City for Cherry Festival. The new owner, the former owners wife was awesome and I see the improvements shes made with the place. If you are looking for a fancy place to stay this is not the place for you.Macs reminds me of when my parents took me on vacation with the Knotty Pine walls and a small cabin on a lake. Our family is very laid back and love creating memories catching frogs, le... read more
Rustic cabins and unspoiled nature. Nicely aquipted for cooking in or just a 10 minute drive to the hustle of Traverse City. No disco, no game room and no media center ---- just lazy fishing, nature walks and campfires every night. Hi quality and value family fun. I cant speak for the previous reviewer but we found the owner to be very cheerful and quite helpful and knowledgeable about local attractions and the surrounding area. Dont miss the wine tours just 30 minutes away. Would definitely recommend and will return.
We were lured in by an inaccurate, exaggerated brochure written by the owner of Macs Landing, who turned out to be a rather crude, unfriendly man. "Room for softball" as the brochure touted, was more like "room for badminton". The cabins and boats as a whole were in disrepair, and the playground equipment was a safety hazard at best, and completely inappropriate for children. The experience was made all the worse by the cabin pricing, which ranges from \$650 and up, completely too much--unless you enjoy hearing rats scurry a... read more
Our cabin had a great view of the lake with many opportunities to explore the area. The area is quite rustic but close to outside attractions to keep you busy if you want. The cabins are in very poor condition and have not been upgraded in a number of years. We found the cabin quite dirty and the owner unfriendly at best. For the price of \$650 plus I was quite disappointed. As this was our first year at Macs; we talked to other people that have been coming there for years and were told that they have noticed a definite decli... read more
this is one of the most beautiful private lakes in michigan...my family has been going to macs landing for over 40 years and we absolutly love it. its peaceful and i can still hear my cousins laughter at the playground (we loved that playground). the cabins are old but its part of the macs landing feeling. i cannot go one year without a visit and i recommend this place to anyone to create memories of thier own!!!!
