Food is good, but the service terrible – I went to Macelleria several times, because the food is quite good and I like the location, but the service was never excellent. I went again yesterday night and this time I am really disappointed about the service: the waiter was rude all the time, hasty, mistreating us for all our dinner. Fabulous Evening! – We attended a special event in the wine cellar that was enhanced by the terrific food, friendly and attentive waitstaff and delicious wine and cocktails. I was curious and read some reviews, glad to see that the current write ups for 2007 are all positive, no need to dwell in the past. I will certainly return and try their brunch and dinner. I had a fabulous time there, can't wait to enjoy another fine meal, hope readers do the same!
Top of the line – The most delicious steaks in NYC! I always start with an appetizer portion of spaghetti carbonara and end with a succulent steak. Authentic, delicious steak and more! – Macelleria is my favorite steak house, the best in NYC! The food is always fresh, delicious and prepared well. Avoid this restaurant – I knew it was sign, a busy beautiful spring Thursday night and Macelleria had a table open outside. Unknowingly I stepped into the restaurant with my date. First of all the couple to the right were smoking heavy cigarettes that blew into our faces with each smoke. I had thought that smoking outside was illegal but who knows. Delcious food but terrible service – Love going to Macelleria for lunch -- the food is great- but the waiters will barely look at you and once they give you your food they never look back. I waited 50 minutes for a salad and then got no apologies. the tomato soup is fantastic as is the chicken paillard but dont ever go there when you are in a rush.
A Lovely Evening for a Business Function-- – Katie and the staff of Macelleria created such a lovely evening for our corporate dinner! Thanks to their delicious rustic Italian and a staff that went out of their way to make us happy (including bringing latecomers their appetizers long after our meal had begun), I would reccomend them to anyone looking for the perfect place to go, whether for business or for pleasure.
Great Experience – Went to a private party there downstairs. The food was great, the service attentive and the atmosphere lovely and cozy. Would definitely go back to the restaurant.
Exquisite! – Top-notch restaurant! I took my girlfriend to Macelleria for lunch. The manager was especially hospitable, making sure that we were satisfied. She was a delight, and so was the food! I especially recommend the Cinnamon Gelato, so delicious!
