Great dinner spot! – I was invited to Macelleria as a guest for a special event last week and decided I needed to write a review on City Search in order to comment on what a great experience it was. We had our own tables down in the "wine cellar" which had the perfect atmosphere for a small event. Best experience: exceptional food, service, atmosphere – I work for Team In Training and we needed to organize a very important evening for some of our participants. Working with restaurants in New York proved more challenging than I had anticipated. Was this place really best in 2007 by the citysearch audience? Was this place really best in 2007 by the citysearch audience? (part 3) – they take it back to cook some more. but even then, you can tell that those waiters were the type that nothing is wrong. almost like they try to brainwash you that this is the best experience of your life eating at their restaurant. i'd expect someone to be at least somewhat apologetic that the steak wasn't even undercooked; it was not cooked at all. steak comes back out. plate is hot, new serving silverware with it, so it appears to be promising. i fl... read more

Was this place really best in 2007 by the citysearch audience? Was this place really best in 2007 by the citysearch audience? (part 2) – the food finally arrives. the potatoes are nice and crispy. the creamed spinach was lacking flavor and consistency. it was far too funny, and the spincah was far too undercooked for what I am used to with creamed spinach. it was almost like they just mixed some frozen spinach with heavy cream, instead of letting it actually combine in a pan. our delicious medium cooked steak then arrives. and what do you know? it's pre-cut too. that was awesome because... read more

Best steak in the city – I know it's a lot to say, but the porterhouse for 2 here is simply THE best steak in the city, putting it's competition in new york (and in brooklyn) to the side. If you love quality meat this is the place to go. The staff is very attentive and engaging and the selection of Italian wine is phenominal.

Awesome steak, service is hitor miss – I go to Maceleria from time to time. The food is always excellent, but the service is hitor miss, especially on the weekends. This past weekend we went and were put on the waitlist. We were told 5 minutes, but after 20 minutes we went to ask how much longer. The hostess seemed clueless and said she had to talk with her manager, an older Italian gentleman. He was very gruff and told us "not much longer".
