Incredible piece of History
We love this place. The rooms are not super fancy but that's not why you visit.. You go for the character and history. You can almost feel the presence of all the artists who visited over the years. And, breakfast is fantastic!
The photos make the place look pristine but it is not. The lobby is nice but the rest of the place is pretty run down and shabby and in need of maintenance. The Collier room is dark, the toilet flushed 1/4 of the time, the armchair bottomed out, spiders in the tub. No wifi in the rooms, no A/C. Fireplaces in the rooms are not functional. Irregular and poorly-lit gravel and flagstone paths between the buildings. Food was healthy and good and fresh. Don't go if you're not into funky accommodations.
I stayed here for a workshop. The food is all homemade and spectacular, not gourmet but heart healthy and delicious. They really pay attention to your dietary requirements. The rooms are nicely appointed. The place I stayed was dark with lots of spiders. I’m not fond of them and wished my room was cleaner. The beds were always freshly made with fresh towels for the bathroom. I found the vacuum and used it in our space.
