Maybe it’s American culture but when we booked, they added 20% tip prior to be present for the dinner. We went there and one of the diners changed their mind about wine pairings, they said they will refund the amount. What about the 20% tip on top of that?
What an outstanding experience! Food was local and delicious. Atmosphere was moody and intimate. Staff were incredibly kind. They gave me a tour of the kitchen, which was very interesting. I don’t drink alcohol, and the three mocktails were great. All in all, very pleased with my experience. Even more impressive that the head chef is only 25. Would recommend.
I had booked a reservation months in advance for my wife's birthday. 48 hours before the reservation, they called me informing me that they could not accommodate the dietary restrictions listed in our reservation. Really quite disappointing service for a Michelin starred restaurant. Would have been significantly better if they had reviewed the reservation request when they had received it, and given me more time to make alternative plans. A destination. A beautifully surreal experience. Just go. Look nice and class but relaxed. Before you arrive ask to be seated in front of the kitchen.
I should probably start and end this review with the fact that there was a hair in my husband’s dish, but unfortunately, the experience deserves a fuller review. First, the restaurant has no windows or proper ventilation, and with San Diego being abnormally hot, the dining room was unbearably warm.
