I often bring out of town guests to visit Lowell's and they always enjoy the visit. Everybody like wooden boats and, since the shop usually has several boats at various stages of construction, a visitor can get a good sense of how these boats have been built for over 200 years. The director and volunteers are always happy to take time out from boat building to explain what they're doing and why. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Lowell's Boat Shop is a great place to visit when you are on the north shore and interested to see some living history. You can "stop in" for a visit and learn some maritime history and, indeed, you will feel like you are walking into that history itself. Or, if you happen to plan in advance, there are many educational programs for wooden boat enthusiasts of all ages. Time well spent!

This is an amazingly authentic look into the history of wooden boat building. The staff are wonderful, there is ongoing, ever changing activity and the boats are beautiful. You are sure to enjoy your visit.
