Nice, new looking Los Cucos with a large menu.
I was very disappointed with my experience at Los Cucos. While eating, I discovered what appeared to be a large fly embedded in my melted cheese after I had already eaten several bites. When I brought it to the bartender’s attention and said I wanted to take a picture, he immediately removed it and initially denied that it was a fly or bug. Food and selection is good. Great atmosphere. Problem is had was the forced 20% gratuity which left service a bit slow and several slipups. Good place but that 20% is hard to swallow when service was sub par.
There were two other people at the bar already eating, so it wasn’t busy at all. I sat at the bar for almost 10 minutes and neither bartender said a word! One guy was busy counting receipts but he could have said, someone will be with you, welcome or something. He never looked up. The woman bartender picked up a receipt next to where I was sitting, looked me dead in the eyes and never asked if she could help me, get me anything and walked straight to the back. I ordered takeout -- El Rey #1 = no charro beans at all on order. Second El Rey order was to have NO sauces/toppings on enchilada or tamale, but did. Refried beans and rice were partially mixed together (somehow). Contacted restaurant--- I'm still waiting to hear. I have always LOVED Los Cucos, but.....
