We chose to eat at a L&L to guage what we can expect from Hawaii and what they are well know for, Plate Lunch. We were not disappointed. Big portions with full flavored chicken and Kalbi beef. The mac salad was awesome. Chicken had the perfect cook and was juicy. The kalbi beef rib was melt in your mouth and the sauce exploded with flavor. Even with many Lunch Plates we tried later in the week couldn't stand up to this one. Definitely worth a stop even though they are a chain.

I respect the concept and the long history of this restaurant. However, I wonder who is currently in charge of operations. With the increasing number of branches, I question whether the people still involved in this role possess the same passion and enthusiasm as the original founders.
