Finding housing in NYC is tough. But don't ever choose Literati unless you are not expecting your deposit back. It's a scam by the guy running literati Edwin . I checked out from one of their apartments 5 months ago, didn't get my money back and I found that it is not just me. Also their apartments are not clean.
Worst experience ever from day 1. They won't return your deposit even if everything looks ok. They took days to fix the shower. In the long run going with them will cost you more. Better to try Airbnb
Had to deal with multiple headaches from Literati/Ed. Shadily tried to install an extra tenant/room in our apartment in the middle of our lease without any notice. After moving out, basically became a part time job trying to get my deposit back. Have several friends/roommates who still haven't received theirs after a year.
I first used the Literati Group to move into my apartment in Astoria a year ago and had an excellent experience with them. The customer service was great. Before moving in they answered all of my questions and made me feel completely comfortable and welcome to the neighborhood. DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE! The homeowners threaten to evict the tenants when Literati won't pay them, even forcing themselves into the house against the tenants wishes. AND HE DOES NOT RETURN THE SECURITY DEPOSIT. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!
