$100 nonrefundable application fee only to be told that both I and my partner need to be making $70k a year individually to qualify for an apartment going for $1950/month. That's $140k combined. I have been renting apartments with my partner for seven years and have never, ever been told that our individual income has to be 3 times rent-- most landlords do combined income for both members of a couple. I feel like we've been swindled out of the application fee for an income qualification that is extremely atypical.
We moved to Monument and Lilac Gardens after our adult son suggested it, and then moved my mother-in-law here too! Three generations shows we appreciate the place! The grounds are kept up well, communication is great, and many of the units have been upgraded. We are only moving on as we have bought a place.
The management has been quite irresponsible in handling tenant concerns. My car was towed at around 8:30 AM on the first week of January 2026, even when there was no freezing rain or snowfall that morning. When I contacted management about the incident, they explained that the person responsible for spreading salt did not have access to tenants’ contact information. I have enjoyed living at Lilac Gardens. It's a quiet and respectful community. I like the security aspect of the key fob access to the buildings. The leasing office and the maintenance team are friendly and responsive to any inquiries.
