Second week living here and our packages have already been stolen. I wish I was kidding. There’s basically no security..the gate is left wide open, so anyone can come in. I like the place itself, but it’s frustrating that I already feel like I need to buy security cameras just to help keep my family safe.
Extremely high crime area! Portsmouth is #1 for overall crime and violent crime in the state of VA. Portsmouth’s homicide rate is almost six times the national average. Do your research before moving here! The security is abysmal. We have lived in several military housing neighborhoods over 20 years and this is the most unsafe we’ve ever felt. I feel safe in the housing area however the places outside of this housing location are skeptical and it's not safe. The schools are very low budget. The rating is one out of five. The military children have problems with fights from the locals and middle on high school. The level of education is low.
