RecommendedIt's fairly accessible from the north Dallas area, and has reasonable hours of operation. The hiking is fairly limited--about six-eight miles all told--but pleasant, and there's a ton of plants and wildlife around. Entrance fees are reasonable too. It's a great way to spend some time hiking with the kids, and I really wish I'd found out about this place sooner!

RecommendedI discovered LLELA a little over a year ago and have walked Bittern Marsh trail over 20 times, camped in a primitive camp site and explored all the other trails - all with a camera in hand. It’s amazing what can be seen and discovered if you walk slowly and keep your eyes open. I also fly fish and I’m trying to figure out how to catch the hundreds of rainbow trout that are released in the winter. I recommend LLELA to anyone that truly loves nature and wildlife.
