RecommendedLLELA is a great place to go. Currently it is under construction so two of the best trails are cut off. I recommend going in the morning if you hate the heat. There are areas to have a picnic with tables. Park at the blackjack trail and you can hike to the Cicada from it. Just explore... some snakes, turtles, ducks and other fun creatures. Pretty peaceful. The hike is pretty easy. If you get tired fast there are places to rest.

Loved the kayaking trail!
I visited on what appeared to be a light traffic day. Saw 2 bobcat trot out onto the path in front of me about 10 yards - totally cool! (That was the Blackjack trail). Saw fresh deer tracks but no deer - wrong time of day. Hiked both the Blackjack trail and the Cottonwood trails and took the parallel Cicada trail for a bit back to the car when circling back on the Cottonwood trail. Pioneer homestead is an interesting place to catch on the Cottonwood trail. Great day for a hike!
LLELA is a great place to get out into nature. We enjoy hiking on the trails and visiting the old homes.
