We haven't been to any other pediatricians, but frankly, I wouldn't want to take my 15 month old else where. Antietam Pediatrics is wonderful. I've never experienced a long wait or any less than considerate staff. Everyone from the front desk to the doctors have been caring, kind, and professional. They offer Saturday sick appointments, flexible hours, and doctors on call after hours for late night questions. We took my 13-month-old daughter here due to a fever, coughing, congestion, runny nose, and lack of appetite. You would think that, due to the fact that we stated she was feverish, they would have taken her temperature. Not the case. They weighed her WITH her clothes on, didn't do a thorough physocal evaluation, and didn't even check her eyes out. All they did was look in her ears, nose, and mouth. This place is horrible! I took my 3 week old son here for wheezing and nostril flaring and Dr. just blew it off as it was nothing, that night his wheezing got much worse and we took him into the ER and ends up he had RSV and had to be hospitalized all because she did not do a simple mouth swab to check for that. I urge you to not go here its absolutely horrible. On top of that a time before that they said they take newborns back in a room quickly so your not sitting out with all the sick patients. I have been to this practice a couple of times now and I am incredibly dissapointed and astounded that the place is open. My 2 year old has special needs (awaiting diagnosis for autism spectrum disorder) and therefor acts differently from other children. Being a pediatricians office of all places, I expected them to treat him and us with respect and understanding. We already get enough dirty looks in public from people who are ill informed. I liked this practice when I first started taking my son there, but their service has really gone down hill. The office staff and nurses are very rude. Especially the receptionist who handles checkout. You can't tell me these women are having that bad of a day every single time I visit. The wait time to see a dr is ridiculous as well. They intentionally double book appointments. While you may be taken to an exam room promptly, expect to wait in this room for at least 30-50 minutes. This practice is terrific. The doctors and especially the nurse practitioner are helpful and caring. They take time with the kids and listen to them. On the phone the nurses are very helpful. The office staff however is not very friendly and sometimes with phone calls the wait on hold can be relatively long.All in all I really like this office. V.F.
