I have been living in my building since 2017, I love the people that live here and central Harlem is the BEST neighborhood in Manhattan! But the maintenance has become increasingly poor and the rent continues to climb. I have had the same on going issue with my plumping and there has been no permanent fix. I have spoken to other tenants and they also have various issues with maintenance consistency. I don't believe it's the maintenance workers, rather how they are managed/set up to their jobs. Walls/floors/ceilings are paper thin—you constantly hear your neighbors next door, across the hall, upstairs, people slamming their doors. They dug up a pastoral area between 2 buildings to fix pipes and then rather than replant the area they just put a fence around the dirt and called it a Dog Run. Should be called a Dog Bark, cuz dogs in there are loudly barking at each other and passerbys--the sound comes right into your apt and is very stressful. Plus it’s an eyesore!
