We returned from the L'Enfant Plaza station at 1:00 AM after the Commanders game. Most of the exits were closed, with no staff or signage to direct customers toward the way out. The result was that we wandered around in circles for 10 minutes until we encountered two police officers who showed us the exit. Otherwise, Washington's metro system is clean, efficient—initially a bit complicated for a tourist to understand—but the payment system of tapping your credit card to enter and exit works wonderfully.
