I am 33 now, but as a child I was repeatedly placed in this facility — then called Ramsey, later Laurel Oaks — from around age 7 to 13 because my unstable mother tried to claim I was mentally insane for a government check. This place destroyed my childhood and left me with lifelong trauma: staff physically abused me by slamming me into walls, pinning me down with full force, even breaking kids’ legs. I use to work here for months and I wouldn’t recommend my kids (girls) being here the male staff are VERY sexual with the kids !
Been there twice 7 months the first time and 6 3/4 the second time. If anything it fueled my issues of depression and trauma. It’s a horrible nightmare of a facility! Don’t ever disagree with the staff or they’ll just strap you down and shoot you up! Night time staff was sleeping behind the desk most of the time. So kids just wait until then to sneak by the sleeping “Professional” at the desk to the boys or girls sides. This place is more of a torture chamber than a psychiatric facility! My son was here from 6-2-25 until 6-13-25. He told me the place was very clean, nice, food was good, staff was great and he had no complaints. From speaking with all the staff on the phone when checking up on him everyone seemed very friendly, caring and understanding. The therapist Heather Rice has been excellent. Also Natasha was great with gathering info for me any time I called. I’ve spoken to them several times since he’s been there. I was there as a kid. It was a nightmare. I have a child now, I would never ever no matter what put him in one of these places.
