We understand doctors have to give bad news at times, but there is a humane way to do it. Dr. Kopaken came in, showed us our 13 yr old daughter’s X-ray and said right away the only solution was spinal surgery which had to be done to avoid the bones from compressing against the heart and lungs. Dr. Copaken was kind, gentle, and compassionate with my 9yo daughter when she fractured her wrist. She spoke to her respectfully, discussed her fracture and its implications in an age-appropriate manner, and offered reassurance when worries were voiced. Exactly the type of pediatric ortho you would want to support your child in time of need. Highly recommend.
