In 1999 I fell and destroyed my elbow. Dr Barlas operated on it, and because of the tendon being stripped, it would not stay located in joint socket. He was so upset by this, he quickly referred to an excellent elbow surgeon at CPMC in SF. Two weeks later I had a second surgery. I give Dr Barlas credit for trying. But when you are a hand surgeon, you don’t do elbows, knees, ankles etc. Ortho drs are a specialized breed of surgeon. Period!
Excellent surgeon. Always takes time to explain procedures, findings, tests, etc. Excellent "bedside manner". Will refer to others of greater expertise we needed
Horrible. I have had 2 knee surgeries with other doctors out of the area and had pain a few years later so I went to see Dr. Barlas. He basically told me not to come back unless I couldn't walk. I felt completely dismissed. He offered no solutions whatsoever and had zero compassion.
