This is my 3rd go round with cancer having previously had colon and then liver cancer and now have prostate cancer. I finished my radiation treatment (20) a couple of weeks ago and meant to write sooner, but here goes. After having treatments at Sunnybrook and Centenary I have to say going to the Cancer Centre at Lakeridge for my radiation was performed by top notch people who really seemed to care, and were thoughtful the entire 20 visits. This place is a complete failure when it comes to patient care and basic respect for families going through cancer. My father is fighting for his life, and instead of any sense of urgency or compassion, we are repeatedly forced to sit around for endless amounts of time past every scheduled appointment. It makes the entire scheduling system feel like a joke. There is absolutely no consistency, no communication, and no accountability. This was my mum's third time seeing Dr V. On her previous visits I found him to be pleasent. However today, she had an appointment that had been requested by her family Dr, regarding some blood work results he thought were not very good. So he advised that she should see Dr V again. My mum is 84, she needs 24 hr oxygen and has very, very limited mobity. I takes everything out of her to just walk a few feet.
