I was shocked to see this place all dried up when I first moved here. I did not realize they manually drain and fill some of the bodies of water here seasonally. Watching it being filled in the spring is pretty amazing. It takes waaaaaay longer than filling your swimming pool. More than one overnighter for sure. They close to swimmers often because of Algae bloom outbreaks, and it was a method of preventing the spread of the corona virus because people weren't be responsible on their own. The name of this swim area is very misleading. There are permanent signs everywhere that you cannot swim. The lake is all dried up. All you see is mud everywhere. In the parking lot, there’s people sleeping in their cars. I would not suggest coming here ever. Please be vigilant with your pets and children if you do decide to come.
