I was referred to Lake Perriguey by a local domestic violence organization for a pro bono consultation several years ago, after an abusive ex-partner sued me in retaliation for keeping our shared apartment. I am still so incredibly grateful for his intelligent and empathetic guidance through that frightening time. It was an extremely difficult period and meeting with a lawyer and taking control of the situation was monumental for me.

Was very condescending. I paid $35 for him to basically tell me that he couldn’t help me or answer my question, but he could give me a phone number….. when I tried to actually ask more questions beyond that, he cut me off before even letting me ask. Not exactly sure what I paid for…..

I didn’t appreciate this person’s lack of knowledge regarding EPPDAPA. It was the first thing out of their mouth. I also thought the shameless plugging of mediation services (which don’t have to follow bar regulations and have only specific recourse options) was tacky. It seemed as though they were fighting the respondents case, not mine. They also shared what my former roommate told them they would be telling the judge.
