Berni claims VA authorizations take at least 6 months - the provider isn't even covered by the VA. They are condescending towards disabled veterans for inquiring on status just for a test that Animas Spine should have sent to a provider that's covered instead. These two offices combined are rude and delay care passing blame on the VA and make threats to the veteran.
I’ll cut to the point, Dr. Wallach and Berni (Practice manager) were pretty incredible. They got my husband in quick and in my opinion went above and beyond from what I expect from healthcare providers these days. Dr. Wallach also talked to us like humans and made us feel comfortable and relaxed. He even worked on the MRI authorization himself. (I work in healthcare and was blown away!)
I saw Dr Robert Wallach and he joked multiple times about injecting lungs on accident while doing nerve blocks... I found his office to be unprofessional and my appointment to yield no actual plan of care from Dr Wallach. I've seen several other physiatrists in other cities and it's sad the smaller cities like Durango likely don't have many other options. I will not be going back.
I believe this is a unicorn doctor in Durango who you can have a confidence knowing he knows his stuff. This is a small town and Dr. Wallach knows who to refer you to and what procedures are possible. I feel really lucky that I was referred me his way.
Dr Wallac has treated me and given me a diagnosis after doing nerve study on my first visit. He took time to explain the condition and thru his accurate approach I finally know what the condition is that has been affecting me for months. Upon my second visit after MRI to further look at the physical condition of my neck and explained what the condition is and that he interested in some new research of this condition.
