I sought out counseling at La Plata Family Therapy due to some health and aging issues I am confronting. I wanted to talk through my feelings and help to clarify my options. I had specific criteria for a therapist and they were able to provide a suitable therapist. So--the therapists that we work with (Chris Dooley & Jen Burley) I HIGHLY recommend. Both are perfect for my respective children and have given my kids great tools for processing various things. They themselves deserve more than 5 stars. HOWEVER, the billing practices at this place are questionable at best. They either don't run things through insurance, and/or they do not bill in a timely fashion. Hey mom. I bought a sandwich from dunkin doughnuts for 6 dollars, and then I spent 8 dollars on a vanilla chaii frappaccino from Starbucks. I'm a bad person huh? I should've spent my money on something else huh mom? McDonald's is just down the street. Their frappes are way cheaper... I'm a failure for spending money on food huh mom!
I was feeling like I wasn't being heard. She fumbled around trying to find nothing she never wrote down from a previous visit I had attended. I was going to appointments 2x a week for every week for a few months because she recommended it. When I tried to go to one appointment a month she told me it was not a good idea. Jennifer Burley has been my therapist for over a year now and I can not recommend her enough. She is reliable, honest, open, engaging, thoughtful and an overall intelligent person. I can honestly say she has changed my life for the better, I’ve moved mountains with her guidance and support.
