Just misses 5 stars – I hate NOT giving this place 5 stars. The only reason I didn't was that some of the food, like the plain lasagna was only very good-- not spectacular. Romantic, hip, relaxing – I've never heard of this place until last night. It seems like it's easy to miss when walking by, but when you walk in you can see that this place is full of character. Romantic place to celebrate a special occasion – My husband took me to this place for my birthday on a Saturday night. We found the place to be cozy and romantic and really enjoyed the jazz trio. The food was great - we shared a salad, a delicious pesto pizza, and a slice of cheesecake, and it was exactly right for the two of us. Love it! – I had been wanting to go this place for quite sometime and I finally got the opportunity when my boyfriend took me on a surprise dinner date!. Dopest Jazz Music Spot – Where else can you go for this type of experience, where everything is so excellent, and yet you don't have to pay Village Vanguard prices and be all formal? The Best Food and Music! – I've been coming to Next Door to enjoy the great food, and to listen to their outstanding musicians, for the last three years. And I for one, love the fact that they treat their music seriously. Not recommended – My husband and I took our out-of-town parents here last night for some food & music. We were respectful of the musicians and whispered (if spoke at all) during their performance. However, as soon as I accidentally laughed a little too loud, the waiter rushed over to our table and scolded us for being too loud. Amazing Cafe - Avoid Wednesdays – I love La Lanterna and will always recommend it. However, I went downstairs to Next Door to see the live jazz this Wednesday evening for the first time, and was shocked to find a pretentious atmosphere made up of snooty musicians and high-brow would-be jazz aficionados.
