Mission & Vision Rooted in San Diego for over 60 years, the La Jolla Symphony & Chorus enriches our lives through affordable concerts of ground-breaking, traditional and contemporary classical music. The performance ensemble is affiliated with the University of California, San Diego, performing six concert weekends a year at UCSD’s Mandeville Auditorium as well as special concerts at other venues in Southern California. I saw their recent show at UCSD on Saturday. They nailed Stravinsky. The violins sounded very crisp, timpani dude kept it in the pocket and oh boy the oboe was smooth as butter! Brass section was a bit rusty though. Sameer Patel did a great job with the ensemble and I would come back for more concerts!
I have experienced the most sublime music: a lot of emotions and memories elicit with the music interpreted by this body of very talented musicians. Everyone, from patrons to ushers always smiling, welcoming and very courteous. Seats are very comfortable and the adjacent patio and cafe offer a perfect space to stretch legs and socialize during the intermission. Highly recommend.
