In 1979, Viola Barrios bet everything on a last hope for her family - a restaurant named Los Barrios. She made it a San Antonio tradition through her love for family, hard work, and a passion for the best Casero-style Mexican food. We then opened up La Hacienda de Los Barrios in 2004 and Viola's Ventanas in 2013 to continue serving up home-style cooking with an abundance of amor, fe, y alegria para vivar! Some things you just have to see (or taste!) to believe, and our award-winning food is one of them. These standout dishes... read more

NOT VERY GOOD !!!!!! – Food was so so, chicken bones in the Fajitas and the service was poor. If the server had a personality, she left it at home. One bowl of stale chips.. never refilled. 9 people, $192... will NOT go back.
Perfect Patio for Margaritas – This is always where I take company when they come in town! The food is some of the best in a town & the margaritas are awesome. I have no idea why there are bad reviews, except it seems that parents want to have a meal & a baby sitter.
OUSTANDING – great food and they even have refried beans made without lard by request!!!!! fantastic food people and drinks!!!!!!
Seriously Over-rated – Went with my 3 kids ages 12, 4, and 3... The reviews and also spread in the Express news made it seem ideal for family fun. The food was super greasy, like something Chef Ramsey would freak out about and the "fun playscape" is outside with no seating available nearby. We had to take turns deserting our table in order to check up on the kids. One parent would be left behind while the other was outside interacting. Not ideal. The plates range from $10 for basic nothing-special flautas to $37 for somethin... read more
Love the place! – Good food, good service & an excellent patio. The bartender, Steven, was fantastic! Very personable, friendly & fun. Will go back for both the food AND the bartender. :o)
One Stars Reviews Undeserved – Being one to reserve one star ratings for truly bad places to avoid, I can't help but feel that many of these one star ratings are undeserved or not well thought out. I live nearby and visit regularly. The taquitos del pueblo is my regular order and it never dissappoints. We usually order margaritas that are potent and tasty. (anyone who orders a drink like a pina colada doesn't have the right to complain about thier rooty tooty frooty chick drink lacking kick) There is a playground close enoug... read more
Worst attempt at Tex-Mex – We ordered the "spicy shrimp" cocktail, Chicken Fajitas for two, and chicken mole. The shrimp we got seemed to have been washed with soap & water because it was flavorless. The shrimp sauce was ketchup. The chicken fajitas seemed to be boiled. The beans not only lacked taste but we got no more than a teaspoon that was spread out thinly on our plate. The mole sauce was gritty & it was so sweet, we felt we were eating maple syrup. We shoukd have saved our money and gone to Mama Margie's instead. What... read more
They are finally getting it right! – When this place first opened we went to check it out because its related to Los Barrios another San Antonio Great, and initially I wasn't impressed. Now that they have been at it for a while they are firing on all cylinders. The food is great, the patio is great and of course the drinks... I like to order the traditional Enchiladas Mexicanas, it is a tastey treat but everytime I order it they ask if I'm serious and ask if I want to taste a sample to make sure I want it because its differe... read more
What a Letdown! – Like the previous reviews, we went to La Hacienda because we saw it on Throwdown with Bobby Flay on the Food Network. We went January 9, 2010. I wanted to go for the Puffy Tacos. We drove there from Houston. The first thing I ordered was a Pina Colada. I tasted no rum at all,and I rarely drink but ordered it to get me in the mood for the anticipated dinner. Then the waiter brought out the nacho chips and salsa. The salsa was runny, and had no flavor. I've had better salsa at Kroger! The nacho chips tasted sto... read more
