BE CAREFUL!!! I signed up with LA Fitness for a 2-year program and I REMEMBER clearly at the time of signing that the agent told me I can cancel anytime and get my refund back for the remainder of the contract. I'm moving to a different state now and requested a cancellation and guess what ... no refund for cancelling because I paid up front. Their employees will literally make up the most bs and try to bait you to sign up which includes false advertising and personally I would consider it FRAUD. Learn from my experience and... read more

I have been a member of LA Fitness for about 9 years now. I go to the club regularly with my two sons. On 05/06/2021, I entered the gym and the clerk at the desk asked my kids to sign in. I told them I was scanning in and asked the clerk if this would be an issue every time we came in because I have an upgraded account and both have been on my visitors list for years. FRAUD, SCAM and poor customer service. I started going to this gym in 2016 and decided I wanted to cancel around the beginning of 2018. Which I did, I canceled. When I started going I was 16, so I wasn't really set up and I had my moms credit card on the account. My mom is an older immigrant so she has some difficulty on technology, the English language, and checking her bank statement. I wanted to start taking better care of my health (as per the recommendation by my Doctor), So I went to LA Fitness on Camelback. I set down to speak with the location manager and he then brought over a personal trainer. At the end of the tour, they asked how I felt and I said overwhelmed, The personal trainer joking said it may be because there are two of us and one of you. Training contract: Impossible to get out of. I moved, but was not 25 miles away from the nearest LA fitness. I am without a car, and it would take over an our to get to it by subway. They still did not terminate the contract. So, I am forced to pay half the remaining balance.

I attempted to cancel my membership before the billing cycle. The phrases that were used by their employees "sorry you gotta do that online, sorry you gotta come in person to do that, you can come in between 9am-5pm." I showed up at 3:58pm. "I am sorry the manager left at 3pm, you gotta come in between 6am-3pm." A month later, I have had at least 15 different employees from different branch/location contacted me trying to collect. I have been trying to cancel for months. I called and was told I can either mail in a cancellation or I would have to go to the location. This is already ridiculous as I could sign up quickly and easily online. I don’t have a printer so I finally was able to go in to cancel. I was told they could not cancel, only a manager could do this and the manager works M-F 8-5. THAT IS WHEN I WORK!! I cannot go in during those hours. They are purposely making it impossible to cancel and continue billing me.

Due to my back injury and by doctor recommendation I had to stop any form of exercise. It’s been a month since I first contact manager of Esporta , to cancel my membership . I provide documents he requested but still NOTHING! My account is still open and I have been charge for working out sessions I can use!!!! To close gym account is a NIGHTMARE!!!!!

***** * I joined the LA Fitness location in Fort Lauderdale shortly before the Covid Pandemic. They were forced to shot down their business due to heath regulations. We as customers were expected to understand and not hold them accountable for the shutdown. I also was not expecting a virus (that could kill millions and my parents), as I was the sole caregiver for them at an advanced age.
