The building itself is an awesome piece of history. Great location! I loved living here but the maintance men and the owner, Chris Williams, are totally unprofressional. They enter your apartment without notice, never fix anything, wont turn the heat on until late October, no hot water for two weeks straight. Raised the rent because of rising heating costs but never turns the heat on. I currently live in the LaFayette apartments. I agree with yomama that the owner is completely unprofessional, and often rude when I speak on the phone with him. Twice already the hot water has gone off this winter. The heating system is incredibly loud- think hammer on pipes loud. I have not experienced anyone rifling through my belongings as far as maintenance goes. They do smoke in the lobby which is annoying. They are pretty prompt in fixing things when I ask.
