I had already tipped the waitstaff $80 in cash, yet for some reason, an additional $39.42 service charge appeared on the bill. That brings the total—combining the cash tip and the added service charge—to $120 for a party of four; effectively a 50% tip on a $233 bill is completely unacceptable. In the past, we never saw a mandatory service charge on the bill; tipping was always left to the customer's discretion. It is unacceptable for the restaurant to force a service charge onto the bill like this!
