Dr. Nikolakeas is personable and knowledgeable, but the office is poorly managed, which is why I will not be returning. I have been a patient for 2 years and I have had only one pleasant experience. I once spent an hour just explaining my problem to the medical assistant, then to Dr. Nikolak%eas' intern (I was not comfortable with this at all), then I had to hear it explained by the intern to Dr. Nikolakeas outside of my room, just to have to tell it again to her myself. Very disappointing!
Dr. Nikolakeas recommended that I get a Prolia injection back in July 2015. She told me that she would get pre-approval before arranging for me to get the shot. A few weeks later, she made arrangements & I got the shot. I recently (July 2016) got a bill for $1100.00 because she never got pre-approval like she said she would. I quit seeing Dr. Nikolakeas because I don't trust her.
I met Dr. Nadar while I was in the hospital, then for follow up saw both he and Dr. Nik. LOVE them both! In fact, I moved out of the area (2 hrs away) 2 years ago and still use Dr. Nik as my family doc in spite of the 2 hr drive. She's very easy to talk to, and she LISTENS!
I wasn't able to speak with Dr. Nik privately. First, the medical assistant came in and asked me what was going on. Then, a doctor-in-training came in & asked the same thing. Finally, both Dr. Nik and the doctor-in-training came in; Dr. Nik seemed more focused on training her than on listening to me & seemed rushed. Also, I was uncomfortable with Dr. Nik's reluctance to refer me to a specialist, as well as her eagerness to prescribe pills without exploring other options first. Won't be back.
Office is very poorly run. If both doctors -who are in the same family - are on vacation, no coverage. Needed a script and was told it would be a week. Office manager when challenged said that I wasn't their only patient and even though the Dr had written up instructions for follow up, the office manager hadn't gotten to my file in a week to set those appointments. I was left in pain for weeks longer than needed. Very unresponsive, unsympathetic and incompetent.
Front office staff Shante and Amanda were rude and unprofessional. Customer service was not a concern for them as I sat in lobby for 30 minutes and was never acknowledge. I didn't see the doctor because I left frustrated.When I called to speak to an office manager I got front office who basically told me they were busy sometimes and didn't have time to acknowledge everyone who walked in. Front office staff set the tone for the doctors and care! Where is good customer service at these days?
She is the best doctor I've ever been too. Easy to speak with, understanding and very caring. I absolutely love her method of practice. I would highly recommend her, she's a 10+!!!!!
