I noticed a burnt smell the first time we turned on our heating system this fall. Brian came out for a furnace cleaning and found a thick layer of dust on the burners. He cleaned everything out and also performed an air duct cleaning to get rid of the smell. He explained that the dust was literally burning off, which was causing the unpleasant odor.
