This place is AMAZING! These knives are pieces of art and also the best tools! I had the pleasure of meeting a few of the staff at the Toronto location. They were all so nice and helpful. I also got the pleasure to speak with a very nice and knowledgeable gentleman in Calgary. His name is Matt and has a British accent! Matt you are awesome! Knifewear may have become my favourite store! 10/10 ’s
These days it’s rare to walk into a store where every staff member is 100% passionate about what they’re selling. “Want to see a cool knife?” was asked with enthusiasm several times by staff while I was buying my very first Gyuto at Knifewear. Once i let the person helping me know that i was a hobbyist and didnt work in the industry, his behavior just did a 180, acting like I can't hold a knife. Horrible ego, don't recommend to anyone interested in japanese knives and its community
A year later update: still a nice place, but feels like the level of service has faded. I came by a few times looking for a knife upgrade, and in the end bought at another knife shop. Felt like I was pulling teeth trying to get details on the products. Nice folks, good selection, but maybe just caught them on an odd time **** Absolutely phenomenal knife shop. I was looking for a knife and in town, but I hate going to such shops as it turns into a pressure sale. Not here! The staff took wayyyyy longer than they had any obliga... read more
