Fantastic visit! Did the Night Observation Program, with my twin 13 year old grandsons. Cloudy night so we did lots of discussion and exhibit reviews then the sky cleared and we got to look thru one of the telescopes for at least an hour. Mind blowing views with great explanations. One of the coolest things we did living in Tucson. Great staff.
Way, way more than 5 stars….. Great experience despite the subpar sandwich included in the night tour! Ros (Roswell), Cathy, Lucas and a third woman were fun, educational and interesting.
Not worth it. If you've never seen an observatory/telescope from the outside and you really want to in the flesh, then visit the site/visitor centre during the day. But absolutely skip the nighttime programmes. They spend half of the alloted 4.5hrs giving history that we'd already read on the info boards at the VC and going over and over and over very bland/basic safety briefings - don't trip over please, folks!
