Honest people – I've been going to Kips Bay for the last 5 years and have always been able to find something I like, and the doctor and staff were always pretty helpful. The thing I appreciate most is that they always make it a point to review my insurance plan with me so I know what I'm entitled to. And this is a good thing becasue my insurance has changed 3 times in the last 6 years. Knowing all the cost upfront really helps- my bill was exactly what my estimate was. Great Service – I ripped one of my contact lenses and was stuck at work without lenses. I needed to get replacements fast, and called Kips Bay because they were nearby. Since I wasn't a patient there, they told me I would need a copy of my prescription (even though I knew exactly what lens I wore). I didn't have it with me, and was in a jam. They were really good about it and were able to call my doctor and verify my lens right away. They didn't have the type of lenses I wear but was able to get them that same day by 4:00! G... read more
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER – I am not sure how these guys stay in business - there are so many eye drs in NYC and this one has got to be one of the worst. I arrived on time for my appt, waited for 10 minutes, then was told I was late. Then they spent the next 10 minutes yelling at me about how difficult my insurance was as I sat there and listened (*I have solid coverage that covers exam and 8 months contacts supply annually). We do this for the benefit of the patient before beginning any services in order to avoid any later misunderstandings. This clear, detailed explanation is usually welcomed. However, misunderstandings can occur when a patient's coverage does not meet their expectations or coincide with their own understanding of their insurance benefits, as was the case in this instance.
Great Eye Doc! – I made an appointment to see Dr. Scherick as my contact lenses just dont fit well. I have tried numerous other doctors and lenses to try and find something that would work for me. The one thing that stands out about Dr. S is that he actually listened to me and my past experiences instead of just assuming that he knew what was best for me and that i didn't know anything. No thanks! – With all the options in this City when it comes to getting your eyes checked and choosing a pair of glasses, I can't figure out why I put up with a very awkward experience with this doctor, and struggling to find 1 pair of glasses amongst a really meager choice - their selection is terrible, I couldn't wait to get out of there. Don't bother!
Fantastic – Whenever I go to see Dr. Scherick, it's always busy... the reason why is because people know he is a good doctor and they keep coming back! I don't usually go to the same doctor year after year, but this is one that I will keep seeing for years to come. He's professional, efficient, on-time and friendly. You're under great care if you go to see Dr. Scherick! I wouldn't go to another eye doctor!
Small City Feel – I went to see this doctor at the last minute and I was very happy with my various appointments. The doctor took his time and did not try to sell me anything I didn't truly need. He was honest and told me he is not a major fan of colored lens (lol - I bought several boxes anyway). I love my clear contacts and he had my glasses ready in under a week. Definitely worth the trip!
Great all around – I was able to get an appointment last minute with the Dr. and he was very friendly. He didn't rush and gave me a bunch of tests to make sure his theories about my eyes were correct. He then explained his results and made good recommendations. Never once did he try to push me into purchasing anything further. Overall, it was a good experience and I would recommend him.
