Ell is an amazingly skilled and thoughtful artist, capable of instantiating the vision of her client with the technical knowledge to provide helpful suggestions, feedback, and follow-up care. I visited her studio at the suggestion of multiple friends whilst travelling through the Madison area, and my only regret is that I cannot have every hairdressing experience going forward be with her.

Just realized that I had not previously left a review here for MY FAVORITE HAIR STYLIST!!!! Ell is the best, she’s talented, knowledgeable, cares about her clients and how they feel about their look. She’s an expert with all kinds of hair as I know several people who love her/see her and have different hair types from mine, I personally have short curly hair and finding someone who knows what they’re doing with curls is RARE. Found Ellen by referral. I have coarse, wavy hair with multiple cowlicks. I try to maintain a sort of 80s cyberpunk street samurai (retired) look and Ellen came through for me. She explains what she is going to do using terminology that makes sense to the layperson. Plays with it to make sure it moves right. She is welcoming, cheerful and has all her neat paintings hanging in her studio. Very reasonably priced on top of all that. Highly recommend her for women's short haircuts.
