Please beware of Gentiva Hospice of Richmond VA. My dear friend was dismissed without a referral, medication, and medical care. I guess she isn't dying fast enough to receive longer care/ service even though she has terminal diagnoses. While under Gentivia Hospice care, more than once, some of her pain meds went missing. My understanding is that a doctor is required to refer their patient to another provider when releasing them. That did not happen. The whole experience of loosing my mom was bad enough but to deal with an incompetent employee took it to a whole other level…….. My first initial contact with this company was hard however the nurse who did my mom’s paperwork was very patient and compassionate when signing the DNR she instructed it. We would like to extend our gratitude to Gentiva Hospice. During the two and a half months that my father was in their care, he received professional and detailed attention. All of his needs were fully met by his team, which included Carrie, Tammy, Kara, David, and other helpful staff. They also supported us as his caregivers. They helped make bearable the most trying time we've ever faced.
