Solid vietnamese food – This place is a solid solid solid option in the midtown area for Vietnamese food without having to drive all the way to SW Bellaire Houston. While I could argue you could get Vietnamese food just as good if not better in a number of places off of Bellaire, sometimes you need a place closer to where you live, especially if you live closer to midtown. Why is it solid? It's a hole-in-the-wall local favorite that doesn't pretend to be super trendy and a gussied-up expensive version of vietnamese food to c... read more
Nothing to add, really...just awesome... – The other reviews all sound the same...for a reason. I've only ate here 3-4 times...but it's the kinda place you wanna eat every day once you discover it. The food is awesome. And I can't take any stars off for there being no waitstaff, etc; it's like eating at their home....just a few tables...like a little diner...with family hanging about...but not crowded. And whether it be the owners or a family member that takes your order, they're super friendly and make you feel at home. And... read more
One of a few Vietnamese restaurants left in downtown Houston. – After reading the 2 reviews I decided to give it a try and glad i did. This place is small but not the taste.I had the rock n roll beef over fried rice with an eggroll as appetizer and let me tell you they were delicious. Looking at the pho and duck soup others were eating and I could tell they were very good since those patrons chowed down every bit of the soup to the last drop.I definitely recommend this place and will be back again to try the soups. My check wa... read more
Vietnamese foods at midtown. – This is not a five star restaurant but it does give you very good authentic Viet foods in town. The duck soup and Pho are excellent. The rock and roll beef fried rice is delicious too.Prices are about $7.00 for most dishes.Kim Tai does everything herself with the help of a couple customers at peak time.(There's no wait staff here).Highly recommended.
Awesome Vietnamese Egg Rolls and VERY inexpensive. – Stopped in this little midtown Vietnamese Restaurant yesterday to pick up dinner to go. The owner attended to my order personally and made the vietnamese eggrolls and spring rolls fresh as I ordered. They've been in business over 20 years in this same location across from Leon's Lounge and have truly seen the neighborhood change! Kim Tai's beers are only 2 - 3 bucks. The food was absolutely fabulous with generous shrimp and pork. Nothing is better than a Vietnamese eggroll... read more
