Dr. Hamelberg is an excellent surgeon. He performed an emergency appendectomy on me years ago. My follow up appointments were handled very well. I have consulted with him on another medical issue and found him to be VERY thorough.
My mom was deathly ill and in the hospital for 10 months. Dr. Hamelberg performed a total colectomy on her... and she remained in the hospital after that for 7 months. As you can imagine, this is financially devastating. She was just able to come home in mid January 2016. We have piles of medical bills without the ability to tackle them. My mom is bleeding out of her ostomy and tried to make an appointment with him. She was refused because they turned her into collections. I didn't think you could refuse treatment.
