don't waste your time or money here – I asked if I could also get a tempura California roll, but they wouldn't do it which I thought was odd. The waitress was hesitant to let me order an avocado and cucumber roll bc it's not on the menu. The A and C roll were up to par with store bought sushi that's been sitting out all day. The center of the roll had very little a and c and was mostly rice!! Their rainbow roll is okay. They're overpriced considering the quality. Like one of the reviews below said, the sushi chef is a talker... read more
Great place! – I LOVE the place! I know the old owner, the new owner, the sushi chef, and some of the seasoned waitress. They have Korean food on the menu since the current owner, Dee Dee is Korean. Great place, good price, great food! However, the bill can be high. It can be easily $80 for 2 people, but it is sure worth it. They do have rooms for large group of people if you made reservation ahead of time.
Wait Staff – I have only been to Kikyo for the sushi, really no need to try anything else. The sushi chef will talk you ear off so don't bring a date there he could embarass you. The wait staff is a little slow with the check but the food is so amazing and the sushi chef knows what he is doing. Go as much as possible, trust me!!!!
Absolutely Recommended !!! – I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to any Japanese food lovers. The menu and the sushi are fresh and good. If you dont know what to order or confused, you can certainly order from many of its combination lunch and dinner boxes. They serve generously in terms of portion.
Best Kept Japanese Secret in Columbus – My wife and I have now visited Kikyo over 20 times. After eating many times at the other Columbus sushi restaurants we rarley venture out now that we have found Kikyo. Their hostess is one of the friendliest restaurant employees I have ever met (Renny). She always goes out of her way to ensure you are happy with the service and food and willing to bend over backwards to make sure every visit is as good as the first. Food is excellent! Here are my tips: Try Chow Shoo Main (traiditional ... read more
Very good – THe first time I went here I contacted the owner and told them my girlfriend was vegetarian. THey went out of their way to find things that she could have. The atmosphere in the restaurant is great. The prices are not bad either. I would say it and Otani are the best in Columbus.
Take it from a former employee – Kikyo is the best of the traditional Japanese restaurants in Columbus. I feel that a lot of the new crop of Japanese restaurants in town gear themselves for the "cool" factor rather than the style and presentation that makes the food so special. If you had a Japanese Uncle to make you food this is what you'd get. If you go please ask for the special appetizer menu- it's "subtitled" but with your servers help you can get some fantastic food. Try the Hokke and the buttersauce scallops- just tru... read more
