My favorite place for snorkeling, swimming and watching turtles. Hardly ever many people there so just go there anytime.
Amazing place, worth the walk
One of our favorite beaches on the Big Island. We usually go towards the south end, where the campground is. Camping is by appointment on the Sate of Hawaii website. The beach is made up of black pebbles of various sizes, from almost sand size to several inches across. There is a mixture of fresh water in the ocean, and that makes the water appear murky on the surface if you're snorkeling.
