We opened Ken's Automotive & Transmissions in 1968. In 1976, Ken fell in love with the small town feel of Frederick and decided to move from Wheaten to Frederick. Ken passed away in 1991. Ken's son, Mark and wife Donna now continue Ken's vision of taking care of the customer first. Mark and Donna married in 1997 and work side by side in the business. While Tyler is very knowledgeable about the mysterious inner workings of a modern automatic transmission, I was especially surprised by the integrity shown at this shop. I brought in a low-mileage truck showing early signs of tranny issues and after a very through inspection (driving it 80 miles to replicate the issue) he recommended a course of action that didn't involve them doing an expensive overhaul. Took my 2012 Equinox to Ken's Automotive & Transmission, Frederick , MD to repair my air conditioner. They charged me $1,500.00 and they never fixed the air conditioner. They guaranteed me excellent service, but they gave me the worse repair service I have ever received from a car mechanic. They even refused to take my vehicle back for repair even when it was under warranty for quality work. Great experience. Dom was fantastic. The customer service was top notch here. They gave me a full break down of everything wrong with the vehicle and worked with me to repair what was absolutely necessary right now. Felt like they wanted to genuinely help and weren’t trying to rip me off in any way.
