Before Kenergy installed this smart meter the worst bill i ever had was around $150 and that was because my air conditioner would run so much in the summer. Now since the smart meter was installed, we all but live in darkness. I have gas heat, gas waster heater, gas stove and all led lighting, and still have outrageous electric bills in comparison to the KW usage from times past. This month My bill is 425.00 just for my house. My building is 88.51. I haven't done anything different then what I have done in the past 11 years in thos house. Last year at this time I used less KWH and it was colder than it is now.
Business response:
The main reason the bill increased were the much colder temperatures causing the heating equipment to run more and use more electricity. The best measure of the heating requirements are the heating degree days(HDD) provided by the weather service. The heating degree days for the usage period of 11/22-12-24(January 2017 bill) increased to 895 from 309 for the December 2016 bill(usage period 10/22-11-22). This is a 190% increase in HDD.
