I recently tried the chocolate velvet and strawberry filled cupcake. The chocolate velvet was amazing but the strawberry one was on the dry side and I would have liked some more filling.

We ordered a custom cake for an anniversary celebration and were assured over the phone that they could work from a reference photo, including fondant seashell cutouts. Because they couldn't accommodate a dairy-free white frosting, their baker proposed covering the entire cake in fondant which we happily agreed to and were ready to pay for. I’m not usually a chocolate lover, but I must say, the chocolate cupcake at Kara’s was absolutely delicious. I also tried the vegan chocolate cupcake, and that was really good too! I love that they have vegan and gluten-free options so inclusive. I even tried the banana cupcake, but once you taste that chocolate one, you just can’t go back.

I entered the bakery and was immediately impressed with the full assortment of cupcakes brightly topped with Spring/Easter decorations. I asked what the best sellers were and the server rattled them off quickly. Almost too quickly for me to comprehend. Her overall customer service was lacking. No smile. Almost annoyed with me. I love a good cupcake and prefer one that is gluten-free. I tried Sprinkles and the Sweet Diplomacy but I will say Kara’s cupcakes are on another level. The cake is perfect whether it’s gluten free or not, it’s not too oily and yet still moist and fluffy. The frosting is silky smooth and not too sweet. Every bite of their cupcakes is pure bliss.
